Plans for summer:

Check you mail-boxes (electronic and physical!) for upcoming announcements with details on a potential upcoming event: A contingent of Indian military personnel will be in Alaska in early September and we are currently gauging the level of interest among community members regarding holding an event to welcome the visitors.

The Cultural Association Of India, Anchorage is a platform for promoting Indian Culture and preserving its rich heritage for future generations. We hope to achieve this goal by inviting artists from the lower 48 states to present cultural events in the Performing Arts.

In the past, we have had several Classical Dancers from Houston perform concerts in Bharatnatyam and Kuchupudi styles. We have also had musicians perform instrumental music concerts in the Hindustani Style.

In keeping with this, we will try to augment our cultural programs this year with artists like Dr. L. Subramaniam who is a world-class violin maestro and considered the Paganini of Indian classical music, and Ms. Kavita Krishnamurthy who is a leading vocal musician in the Indian Popular Music Genre of Bollywood. Dr. Subramaniam is the recipient of the coveted Padma Bhushan Award, which is awarded by the President of India as recognition of his contributions to the Indian Fine Arts. Both these artists have kindly consented to discuss the possibility of giving a performance in Alaska.
